Blaine

I’ve been working at the local garage for a couple of weeks now. I do all sorts of things from tinkering under the hood of cars to cleaning them or just changing the oil and helping to pump the gas for customers. I also got a job in the bar, can you believe I fucking work in the place? It’s just in the evenings making sure the place is clean, wiping down the tables and stocking the shelves. I don’t serve anyone which is fine by me. I’m no good at math and money. I needed the additional work, the money from the garage just about pays for the motel I’m staying in. It’s costing me a lot to stay here and get info on Primrose when I have a perfectly good home I could be living in.

Working at the bar means I also don’t have to spend too much time with Poppy, but just enough. I haven’t been able to talk to her about Primrose yet. I don’t want her getting suspicious, I have never mentioned her since she came back. I heard rumors about a fire a few weeks back, the remains of a woman who lived at the house were found, but she was burned to a crisp. No one has ever come looking or asking questions, it’s a good ten miles or so away from here. I listened to people saying no one really knew the woman, just that she lived on her own, they reckon she must have started the fire to kill herself, a suicide, from being lonely. The one good thing about being in the bar is I get to listen to what’s going on.

Don comes into the bar more than I realized. He comes in with different guys, I think they are just friends but now and then he’s a little intimate with some of them, but not all. I think he’s a man whore. I’ve sat with him a couple of times getting to know him a little more. He had that picture of Primrose so I figured he may know more info. He’s just come into the bar on his own. He does this when he’s waiting for Tilda and Poppy. They don’t work every night, in fact, it varies all the time.

I have a break, so I take a Coke over to him. That’s his drink when he’s going to work.

“Hey Don, how you doing? You waiting for the girls to arrive?” I place the drink in front of him and take the chair opposite. He has a crush on me, I see the way he looks at me all the time, but I also know he wouldn’t try anything because he wouldn’t want to upset Poppy, or get knocked on his ass by me. He has his cell on the table in front of him. “Hey Don, you know I don’t have a cell, right? If I wanted one, how do I go about doing that? I’ve never had one, I don’t have the first idea how to get one.
